Journal of Macromarketing Vol. 37, Issue 2, 2017 ‘When Exchange Logics Collide – Insights from Remote Indigenous Australia’
‘Conversations to Capability’, was an 18-month study funded by Financial Literacy Australia (now Ecstra Foundation) aimed at co-designing and testing interventions which strengthen and sustain the financial capability and wellbeing of ‘No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS)’ clients.
The research team introduced two fintech innovations – text message nudges and a bespoke online financial information toolkit – after NILS loan applicants took part in a financial conversation with a microfinance worker. The study considered the impact of introducing these innovations, concluding that NILS clients prefer multiple communication methods and channels, including face to face and technology-led options, to single methods and channels.
