Our range of professional services

Learning, Training and Skills Development

Financial capability, the combination of financial knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours necessary to make sound financial decisions based on one’s own personal circumstances, is a key enabler of financial resilience and wellbeing. It is influenced by individual capabilities (managing money day-to-day, planning and saving for the long-term, confidently making financial decisions) and external factors (characteristics of the household and economy, access to financial products, social capital).

We design a range of customised learning, training and skills development solutions to help individuals and their families, workplaces and the broader community they live in, build their financial capabilities. Adopting a human-centred approach, we will design solutions that work, taking the time to understand the financial needs, goals, enablers and challenges faced by each target group.

Social Innovation and Experimentation

Across the world, socially innovative laboratories are proactively finding new and innovative ways to improve the financial health, security and wellbeing for those who are most vulnerable to financial stress. Small pilots are being conducted in Australia led by some financial services providers, yet these efforts remain siloed, and learnings are not shared with others, making it difficult to achieve scale and sustainably grow reach or impact.

The Centre for Financial Wellbeing will develop a network of domestic and global thought-leaders, to connect those who are enabling financial services providers to take evidence-based action to design financial products, services and programs which are useful and relevant to the lives of those facing financial difficulties, and coordinate efforts in Australia.

Targeted Research, Measurement, Monitoring and Evaluation

Our team has a deep understanding of common barriers and enablers to achieving financial inclusion, resilience and wellbeing. Yet not everyone experiences the same financial journey over the course of their lives – in fact each journey is individual, and influenced by a range of factors including demographic, socio-cultural, national and geo-political circumstances. The Centre for Financial Wellbeing will use our expertise in exploring the unique needs and perspectives of each client, to conduct targeted research with users from marginalised communities, who are more likely to experience financial stress.

We have developed innovative approaches to enable different user-cohorts to define what financial wellbeing means to them, and how changes to their wellbeing can be measured. Our team will leverage these to design robust ways to evaluate the impact of interventions designed to improve financial wellbeing for various user groups.

Evidence-based Consulting, Program Design and Delivery

The team at the Centre for Financial Wellbeing is experienced at designing customised solutions to improve the financial inclusion, resilience and wellbeing of individuals, their families and households, as well as the communities they live and work in. Our unique approach to catalysing system-wide, holistic change includes enabling each part of the ecosystem that supports those facing financial stress, to take practical actions to improve the financial lives of those who are within their sphere of influence.

We will partner with like-minded leaders from across multiple sectors in Australia, including the industry, government, academia and community, to guide the co-design and implementation of efforts to improve the financial wellbeing of vulnerable groups.

Events and Publications

The Centre for Financial Wellbeing will pursue every opportunity to complement the efforts of those who are already taking steps to facilitate public and academic debate to improve financial wellbeing in Australia and overseas. We will also develop new ways of enabling those who experience low financial wellbeing to inform future policy and action, through events and publications which give them a voice, and allow them to proactively co-design the solutions which can best meet their unique needs.
